Organic Ministry Collectives – summary and invitation!

Those who attended the March meeting of the Presbytery will be aware that, going forward, we will have “Organic Ministry Collectives” instead of geographical Zone groupings within our presbytery. The policy was explained and accepted at that meeting and is currently being actioned.

Some of the geographical zones worked extremely well and the effort that went into sustaining those is very much appreciated.

Ministry agents are now invited to form organic groups of three or more, according to common interest, common role, geography etc. The collective is then registered with the presbytery and the presbytery ministers can help find suitable matches for those looking for a group to join. It is a requirement for Ministers in Placement, Pastors in congregational settings and Chaplains to join a collective. Lay members, including eg youth workers, are also encouraged to join or form supportive groups of their own within this framework.

A question asked at the presbytery meeting: How will this work if the 3P (Three Presbyteries) model goes ahead through Synod? Ideally, it will work even better than simple geographic zones, since several collectives will already be non-geographical, run either by zoom or only occasional meetings in person.

Ministry agents – time to get creative and form a Collective!
